Whew! It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks, and I realized I haven't posted for a while. There are tons more pictures on Facebook, but I know not everyone goes there and may have missed them. Here are a few from the last weeks...
My awesome friends Kibby (left) and Deb (right) drove with me from Orlando to Holly's house in West Palm Beach the weekend of September 26. This was also the weekend that Hurricane Isaac decided to hit South Florida. Hah! Thankfully, the heavy rains didn't keep too many people from the shower, and we had a lovely (and safe!) time.
Pam, Holly and Mom did an amazing job preparing for the shower. Everything was so cute and thought out, and the pink and green motif was fun. It's my new favorite color combo!
For party favors, Pam made some of her famous sugar cookies. And sent me home with the leftovers... YUM.
Everyone was very generous, and I got lots of wonderful baby gifts. The weekend, despite Isaac, was perfect. I had a wonderful time on what is most likely my last road trip before Bean gets here, and the shower was absolutely awesome. Low-key, casual and friendly, just the way I like it. I'm so grateful to my family for making such a lovely party for me and Bean.
The following weekend, on September 3, my great friend Kathleen hosted a "virtual" baby shower for all of my long-distance friends and family. What she did was send an invitation to everyone saying to have gifts to me by the date, and that at 2:00 p.m. EDT, I would start opening and posting pictures on Facebook. It worked like a dream! People all across the country were reading my posts and commenting on them live as they were happening. I couldn't have planned anything better. Check out all the boxes from everyone:
I was overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. I can honestly say that I have everything I need for Bean's arrival. There are a few more things I'd like of course, and there are the neverending diapers, wipes, bathing stuff, etc., but if Bean came today, I'd be ready.
Speaking of Bean, she's doing GREAT. She and I are still "percolating," as I call it. We're at week 36 of a 40-week schedule, and the doctor doesn't want me to go past October 6 because my daughter, in true Morrell fashion, is BIG. Sturdy. :) I am still feeling good, with no bad symptoms. I have the usual aches and pains I assume are associated with late-term pregnancy, like heartburn, swollen feet, achy hips and back, and just a tendency to waddle. But this is all normal.
I've taken my childbirth 101 class at the hospital (with my fantabulous birth coach, Kibby), and taken a newborn childcare class as well. I am installing my car seat tonight. My bag for the hospital is mostly packed. I've chosen a pediatrician. I'm working with my boss and doctor on my maternity leave papaerwork. Other than creating a will, I think I'm pretty set.
She's almost here! As much as I'm loving being pregnant... I can't wait to meet my daughter. More soon as things progress!
